Submission to NSBE — African Cosmology & The Standard Model of Physics

African Centered (S.T.E.M.) Pedagogical Model

The following course is being offered to the National Association of Black Engineers (NSBE) for consideration as a possible African pedagogical model for physical science education in accord with the NSBE article Proposing African-Centered Education in STEM for African (American) STEM Learners. Abstract: This outline proposes an African Centered Education model where African Indigenous Information Science (IIS) concepts are used to from a web interconnecting the multiple concepts, tools, objects and phenomena African (American) students will encounter during their exploration of theoretical and applied physics. In this web ('Kondi Grid') connections are observed between:

Mandombe, Condensed Matter Physics , and the Periodic Table as well as String Theory
Ifa (Afa) and the Standard Model of Particle Physics
Adinkra Symbols, Feynman Diagrams, Veve (Vodoun), and Patipembas (Palo Mayombe).

An Olokun Symbolic Cosmological interpretation is suggested for the purpose of placing the study of modern physics firmly within the tradition of African (“occult”) cosmological modeling.

We propose this framework be used to form a ‘Kondi Grid’ in the readers mind, connecting the fields of theoretical physics and engineering with the concepts and tools used to explore them (Feynman diagrams, Adinkra Symbols etc.).

For example the Mvuala in Mandombe can be viewed equivalent to the wave function in quantum physics, and the open (Mvuala Za Mpamba) and closed (Mvula Za Pimpita) strings of string theory.

The Mazita of the writing system can be interpreted as Feynman diagrams or Adinkra symbols while the Singini of the writing system may be viewed as the fundamental particle of quantum physics.

This article proposes to further develop this insight to cover the geometric parameters in indigenous mapping of routes to physical (phenomenal) and nominal ("spiritual") forces by way of Toyin Adepoju's Benin Olokun Symbolism and Cosmological Infinity.

This course requires a three-dimensional understanding of physics. We utilize the 3Dimensional Mandombe writing script to help students visualize three-dimensional space and grasp the way the Kondi grid of the script emulates the metric tensor of physics.
